Chiodo Happy With Election Results

Unifor Local 444 head Dino Chiodo is pleased with the results of last night's federal election, despite not electing any local MPs with the ruling party.

However, Chiodo is optimistic Prime Minister elect Justin Trudeau will make details of the Trans-Pacific Partnership public.

"They shouldn't be done behind closed doors and I think the Liberal government will have the courtesy to be able to tell the public what actually is intertwined in it."

Chiodo says the region is adding another strong voice for the automotive industry, with the election of NDP Tracey Ramsey in Essex.

However, Ramsey will sit as a member of the party which came in a distant third in the last night, behind a Liberal majority.

Ramsey beat out former auto worker Jeff Watson, the Conservative MP in Essex since 2004.
