"I am running to provide an alternative for people who don't see themselves represented by the parties in the Parliament. This includes the almost 50% of people who don't vote. The Marxist-Leninist Party stands for the renewal of the political system so the people are empowered, not parties. We want a modern constitution that recognizes the rights of all and vests sovereignty in the people. I am running because we need an alternative, not the status quo where the parties decide everything and the people are left out, told that their vote at election time is their “say.”

My priority is a new direction for the economy that is not based on the bogus debate over tax cuts versus social spending. It is based on what people need and the problems they actually face. For example as teachers we are being told there is no money to improve our students’ learning conditions. Meanwhile the Harper Conservative and Wynne Liberal governments hand hundreds of millions over to the rich and privatize our public assets. This is fraud. Education is a right that governments have a duty to guarantee, not undermine through attacking our working conditions, which are students’ learning conditions."

--- Interesting riding facts:

  • Created in 2003 from parts of the former Essex and Windsor-St. Clair ridings
  • NDP Joe Comartin held the seat for the area from 2000-2015, with Liberals taking hold from 1993-2000.
