Administration for the Greater Essex County District School Board is recommending the closures of Harrow District High School and Western Secondary School.
Harrow area councillor Sherry Bondy calls the recommendation "devastating" to her community.
"We're not going to give up, you know we all have a vested interest in Harrow," says Bondy.
Too many empty spaces is the main reason for the recommended closures with part of the proposal including a push to the ministry for a JK to grade 12 school in Kingsville.
"It's a positive thing of course, but it's not as positive as it could be for our Harrow community," says Bondy. "Harrow is on a turnaround. Our council has slashed development fees to increase residential development. Houses are selling like wildfire."
Bondy says town council will push trustees to reject the recommendation and is working to find a way to keep Harrow high school open.
Trustees will see the recommendation on Tuesday before a final vote on October 13, 2015.
