More Reno Money For Area Hospitals

Area hospitals are getting nearly $3-million through the province's Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund.

Windsor Regional Hospital CEO David Musyj expects some of their HERF money to go towards an already completed project to replace 285 windows at their Ouellette campus.

"They hadn't been touched for years, for decades actually," says Musyj. "When we took responsibility for that campus, it was something that we lived through one winter with it with our patients and there was no way we were going to go through another."

Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare CFO Marie Campagna feels the money doesn't quite go far enough as this year's funding is going to be dedicated again to a three-year boiler project set to wrap next year.

"We do have needs like roofing, other heating and cooling, all of that," says Campagna.

In Leamington, Jason Keane is the hospital's environmental services manager. He says the money will help with a number of projects including yearly roof maintenance.

"I think we do quite well for the funding we have," says Keane. "This is definitely a help. The hospital normally wouldn't be able to put this much money into capital."

Windsor Regional Hospital is getting $1.438-million in HERF money while Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare is receiving $695,370 and Leamington District Memorial Hospital is getting $864,822.
