Tecumseh Deputy Fire Chief Passes Away

Tecumseh Deputy Fire Chief Art Lounsbury has lost his battle with cancer.

With “deep sadness and heavy hearts” the fire department broke the news Thursday that Lounsbury has passed away.

Tecumseh fire prevention officer Bob Hamilton says he will be greatly missed after more than 40 years of fire service. "He's brought a lot of knowledge to the department and comradery to the department as well," he says. "He will be missed, sorely missed. He made a difference in the department as a whole and we don't get those kinds of things -- he made a difference."

He says this particular battle with cancer started late last year.

"Our thoughts and our prayers are with Deputy Chief Lounsbury's family at this time of sorrow. Funeral arrangements to be announced," says Tecumseh fire on Twitter.
