UPDATE: Boy Hit By Car (Gallery)

A two-year-old boy is in critical, but stable condition in a Detroit children's hospital after being struck by a car.

It happened in the 500-block of Brock St. Thursday afternoon.

Police say an 81-year-old woman was driving her Pontiac Sunfire south on Brock when the child suddenly came onto the roadway.

He was struck, suffering what police call "very serious injuries."

The boy was treated at the Windsor Regional Ouellette Campus, then transferred to Detroit Mercy Children's Hospital, where he remains.
