UPDATE: Oakley Deal Getting Closer

A tentative deal is in place between Unifor Local 444 and Oakley Sub Assembly.

The first day of talks on Tuesday didn't bring about a deal, but continued bargaining today saw an agreement reached. Local president Dino Chiodo told BlackburnNews.com he was confident after Tuesday's talks a deal would be reached.

"We did not invoke a [strike] deadline because we feel the conversations are moving in a good direction," says Chiodo. "The company is doing a lot of work to try and make sure that we can get this resolved in a timely fashion."

A ratification vote had been scheduled for Sunday, but the meeting has been moved to Saturday in line with another ratification vote.

A tentative deal with Dakkota Integrated Systems is set for a ratification vote 9am on Saturday at the local 444 hall at 1855 Turner Rd. in Windsor. Dakkota is the second of four auto parts suppliers to the Windsor Assembly Plant the union is looking to finalize deals with after an agreement with TRW was ratified. Talks with HPBO are expected to start next week.
