Some changes could be coming to the Essex County Library system this year.
Feedback from open houses at all 14 branches is going to be filtered by administration over the next few months to see what improvements library-goers want.
Essex County Library Board Chair Richard Meloche says the open houses are important to improving service in the system.
"Try to come up with a plan as to how we could maybe provide those services or if there are suggestions that we could easily put in place, we would absolutely move forward on that," says Meloche. "Depending on the type of program or how much materials are required to put suggestions in place that we think are worthy, certainly we would want to try and make sure those happen over the next year."
Meloche feels many people don't realize just how much a library card delivers.
"Free Internet. We have availability to access magazine subscriptions. We have availability to download e-reader books and as a matter of fact, you can do that from home, but you have to have a library card," says Meloche.
Open houses at all 14 branches ran Thursday from 5pm-8pm.
