Police Warn Of Hydro Scam

Amherstburg Police says it's getting more calls about a scam where the caller threatens to cut off the victim's power if they don't pay up.

Police say someone claiming to be from the power company calls and demands immediate payment. After they make the threat, the person attempts to get the victim's personal financial information.

The number identified in many such scams is 1-877-205-9771.

Anyone who has received such a call is asked to call Amherstburg Police at 519-736-3622 or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
