The City of Windsor has an extra $691,000, as it achieved a surplus in 2014.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says that money is being put into a budget stabilization reserve, which allows for a stronger buffer during the ebbs and flows of this year. "Like a harsh winter or a really wet summer, where we have extra grass-cutting required. So we put into that fund so that we have money to draw on for future needs."
During his time on Windsor City Council, Dilkens says it hasn't been uncommon to see annual budget surpluses.
In his mind, it just goes to show that the city is managing its money properly.
