Potential New Turbines In Lakeshore

Lakeshore is working with Brookfield Renewable Energy Group on more wind turbines for the Comber Wind Farm, despite the town's status as an unwilling host.

"We got our fair share, we don't need no more, I'm good, tell them to put [turbines] in other municipalities that want them," says Lakeshore Deputy Mayor Al Fazio, who doesn't feel any new turbines should be put up, pointing to council's unwilling host status.

"As far as I know that's what I read in [council's meeting] minutes and now we're saying let them infill which to me defeats the whole purpose of the thing," says Fazio. "Either you're a willing host or a non-willing host. If we're a non-willing host, why are we letting them infill?"

The resolution passed late last year outlines council's opposition to future turbine projects beyond areas already supported by council. A report is due back to council on the turbine project.
