Real-Time Transit Bus Technology

Real-time updates for Transit Windsor buses could soon be coming to your mobile device.

Transit Windsor is asking the federal government to pay $2.5-million to cover half the cost of the Intelligent Transportation System project.

Transit Windsor board member Irek Kusmierczyk says this upgrade would drastically improve transit reliability. "It would allow passengers to see exactly where the bus is, whether it's running late, whether it's full and whatnot," says Kusmierczyk. "This would really bring our fleet into the 21st century."

Kusmierczyk says the project will move forward in stages even if government funding is denied. Kusmierczyk hopes to get an answer from the feds early next year.
