Leamington to roll out green bin service in fall 2026

The Municipality of Leamington has confirmed the date to begin the collection of green waste.

Residents in Leamington will have new green bins delivered to their homes in the fall of 2026.

Phase one of the green bin rollout will begin next week, with bins delivered to 120,000 single-family homes in Essex, Lakeshore, LaSalle, Tecumseh, and Windsor.

"Phase 2 municipalities include Leamington, Amherstburg, and Kingsville," read a release from the Municipality on Monday. "Residents in these communities can expect to receive their green bin kits in fall 2026, with collection beginning shortly thereafter. More details will be provided to Leamington residents next year to ensure a smooth rollout."

The starter green bin kit includes a 120-litre green bin for collection as well as a 7-litre kitchen catcher, a how-to guide, and a sample Glad compostable bag.

Collection of green waste will begin the week of October 21, 2025.
