For the first time in one month the Sarnia Sting won at home 4-3 against the Ottawa 67's Friday in a shootout.
The last time the Sting took the win on home ice was January 3, 2024.
The 67's Braeden Kessler opened the scoring three and a half minutes into the first period.
Kai Schwindt got a goal at the bottom of the first period tying the game 1-1.
Nathan Omeri scored at the bottom of the second period to give the Sting a 2-1 lead.
He said the main focus was getting pucks in the net.
"We had a bit of a slow start but we just figured we had to keep working, keep putting pucks in the net," said Omeri.
Late in the third period the 67's got two goals before Zach Filak tied the game with just under one minute left.
After a scoreless overtime Marko Sikic, Nathan Omeri and Daylen Moses got the puck in the back of the net to win the 11 round shootout and get the win.
Moses said during the shootout he made a joke with the coaches.
"I told them hey you want this to end send me out there, I was kind of kidding but at the same time you have to have that confidence to that stuff," said Moses. "So when they called my name there was no doubt in my mind that that shootout was going to end right there."
The Sting play again on Sunday against Windsor at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. and you can catch all of the games on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
