Sting crushed by Soo Greyhounds

The Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds clobbered the Sarnia Sting 9-1 in Ontario Hockey League Action Friday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Nathan Omeri scored in the third period to get the Sting on the board and Carter Kostuch also got an assist on the goal.

The Sting were also outshot by the Greyhounds 32-25.

Head coach Alan Letang said he felt the team had a good first period.

"I thought for 19 minutes and 30 plus seconds they laid it on the line, they played hard and you have that one little glitch and it ends up in the back of your net. For them it's demoralizing, they don't see the light at the end of the tunnel and I thought in the second we stayed right with it a little bit but it just got away from us," he said.

Letang also said he told the players now the focus shifts to Saturday's game.

"Our focus now shifts to (Saturday). We're playing a team where we're only three points behind so, those games become massive, you get one point within the play off spot, this loss is irrelevant, this win is irrelevant if we can compete to get into a playoff spot," he said.

The Sarnia Sting play the Flint Firebirds Saturday at 7 p.m. You can catch all of the games live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
