Sting fall to Spits 5-1

A rough week for the Sarnia Sting was capped off with a 5-1 loss in Windsor Sunday.

Sting forward Nolan Burke scored his team-leading 27th goal of the season and goaltender Ben Gaudreau turned away 35 shots in the loss, Sarnia's fourth of the week.

The Spitfires opened the scoring at 6:52 of the first period on a goal from Ryan Abraham.  Burke evened the score at ones at 9:12 but the tie was short-lived -- Windsor added two goals at 13:20 and 15:17 and led 3-1 heading into the first intermission.

The Spitfires increased their lead at 1:26 of the second period and Matthew Maggio scored his second of the game at 11:26 to make it 5-1.  The final horn blew after a scoreless third period.

Spitfires goaltender Mathias Onuska turned away 26 shots in the win and was named the game's second star.

The Sting are back in action Wednesday night when the club hosts Saginaw on CHOK (1070 AM/103.9 FM) -- coverage begins at 6:30 p.m.
