Sarnia Sting forward Ryder McIntyre has been named the OHL West Division’s Academic Player of the Month for January.
McIntyre, 17, had a 95 per cent average at Northern Collegiate Vocational Institute, according to a release from the league.
Sting Academic Advisor Mark Scott said McIntyre is an exceptional student athlete who is a role model for others.
“He is an engaged student with an exceptional work ethic who consistently puts forth his best effort both in the classroom and on the ice.”
The native of Stouffville, Ontario is currently taking grade 12 university-level Functions, Biology and Business Leadership.
In 27 games played with the Sting this season, McIntyre has posted three goals and four assists.
