The Sarnia Sting are still looking for the their first win of the season after losing 6-3 to the Peterborough Petes at Progressive Auto Sales Arena Friday.
Maltby, England native Liam Kirk opened the scoring for the visitors at the 3:38 mark of the opening period before Sean Josling tied the game at the 9:00 minute mark assisted by Brayden Guy.
Nick Robertson scored for the Petes at 14:45 for a 2-1 lead entering the second frame..
The Sting's Theo Hill scored the lone goal of the second period with Calvin Martin and Ty Voit picking up assists.
At the 4:31 mark of the third Brayden Guy would give Sarnia its first lead of the game, 3-2, with an assist from Jacob Perreault.
But then Peterborough would get goals from former Sting Brady Hinz, Mason McTavish and Kirk and Robertson, the final two goals were empty-netters.
The Petes improved to 6-2 on the season.
Sarnia goalie Ethan Langevin was named first star of the game and felt the team played well.
"It was definitely a good game. I felt really well. We kept with them for most of the game and it's a shame of the outcome. There's some positives we can take out of the game, like we stayed disciplined. We just played a really good game."
Langevin was peppered with 42 shots but didn't let that bother him.
"For me as a goalie when you're facing a good team you're getting a lot of high quality shots and it helps you stay in the zone the whole time."
Pete's goalie Hunter Jones turned aside 26 shots.
Sarnia was 0-2 on the power play while Peterborough was 0-1.
The Sting visit division-rival Windsor Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The pregame show starts at 6:35 p.m. on 103.9 FM - 1070 AM CHOK.
