The Sarnia Legionnaires schedule for the first round of the GOJHL playoffs has been released.
Game one between the Legionnaires and Lasalle Vipers will go Thursday night from Sarnia Arena.
Legionnaires Head Coach Derek DiMuzio expects a close series.
"I've said it before, there's a reason why we finished fourth and fifth in the standings. I know we have an advantage in our goaltending, so we're hoping that can be the difference maker for our series," he said. "The season is a grind, and we've had to battle through so much adversity, so we're ready to go."
DiMuzio said goaltender Jacob Knowles will get the start Thursday night, but he said they have two solid options in net.
"Knowles came into the season as our number one, and Nolan Dekoning knew that. Dekoning has been fantastic, and his development has just sky rocketed. We may or may not have to use Nolan, but we're prepared to do so."
The Legionnaires captured home-ice advantage for the series after a couple of road wins over the weekend. Sarnia finished fourth in the Western Conference with 53 points, while Lasalle finished fifth with 50 points.
The Vipers won the season series with three wins and a tie in six games played, including a 3-2 win in Sarnia last Thursday night.
