Legionnaires bitten by Vipers Thursday

The Sarnia Legionnaires missed a chance to secure home ice advantage in the playoffs as they fell 3-2 to the LaSalle Vipers in the GOJHL.

The game was a preview of the first round of the playoffs.

LaSalle is one point up on Sarnia for 4th place in the Western Conference. The Legionnaires can still start the post season at home if they win Saturday or Sunday.

After a scoreless first period, the Legionnaires scored two goals within 30 seconds midway through the second off the sticks of Nolan DeGurse and Brendan Kennette.

The Vipers pulled to within one with 52 seconds remaining in the second.

Stephane Crevier potted two third period goals to give the Vipers the 3-2 victory.

Legionnaires goalie Jakob Knowles made 24 saves on 26 shots before being ejected from the game for tossing the puck over the glass.

Will Tragge stopped 25 of 27 shots in the LaSalle net.

The GOJHL playoff schedule hasn't been announced, but is expected to kick off next week.
