Stan Slack Wood Bat Tournament On This Weekend

The fourth annual Stan Slack Midget International Wood Bat Tournament is on this weekend in Sarnia, with six teams competing for the championship.

The Sarnia Midget Braves will face two other teams from Canada (Guelph and Barrie) and three teams from the United States (Springfield U16, Springfield U18 and Thumb Elite).

Games will be played at both Errol Russell Park and Blackwell Park, beginning Friday afternoon.

Braves Manager Jim Bigras says fans taking in a game at Errol Russell Park will need to bring their own seating.

"Unfortunately with the grandstand being removed it's just a gravel surface around the park for now, hopefully that changes down the road."

He says they will have a food booth and bathrooms set up.

This is the 23rd year the Braves are hosting the tournament. It was renamed in 2014 in honour of Stan Slack.
