Three third period goals helped Sarnia to a 5-2 win Friday night, in front of 2,742 fans at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Anthony Salinitri opened the scoring with his sixth goal of the season.

The Philadelphia Flyers prospect has points in six straight games, scoring five goals in his last four contests.

He says it was good to start the busy weekend with a win.

"Everyone's doing the things we need to be doing, going to the net and getting dirty goals, and we're winning hockey games."

Later in the frame Kevin Spinozzi and Damian Bourne dropped the gloves after Bourne caught Adam Ruzicka with an open ice hit. The hit happened to come with Ruzicka on his knees, Spinozzi was also nailed with the instigator.

The Sting held a 1-0 lead through a back and fourth 20 minutes where they were out shot 16-9.

Bourne got back on the game sheet in the second period with a shorthanded goal. Justin Fazio made back to back saves on Jason Smith and Jacob Moverare, before Bourne found the back of the net.

Just over two minutes later Sarnia responded with a shorthanded goal of their own, with Ryan McGregor beating Matthew Mancina on a breakaway.

A seeing eye point shot from Jeff King gave the Sting a two goal lead 1:52 into the third period. Just over four minutes later, Franco Sproviero jammed home a lose puck to make it 3-1.

Shortly after that, it appeared Ryan McGregor scored his second of the game, but a lengthy video review found the play to be offside. In an odd twist, while celebrating the goal Sarnia's Alex Black took a roughing penalty.

Aidan McFarland scored on the man advantage, trimming the deficit to a pair.

With under four minutes remaining, a Troy Lajeunesse centering attempt bounced off Louis Latta and into the net, giving Latta his first career OHL goal.

The Sting travel to London Saturday night, before hosting North Bay Sunday afternoon.
