Junior Hockey Weekend Tee Up

The Sarnia Legionnaires (5-3-0-0) found another way to win a one goal hockey game Thursday night, coming out on the winning side of a 5-4 OT decision against Strathroy.

All five of Sarnia's wins have come by one goal, and six of their eight games this season have been decided by that same margin.

Sam McCormack and Jake Vince scored third period goals under a minute apart to force overtime. Jarret Marks netted the winner 2:12 into the extra period. Nash Nienhuis and Alec DeKoning both finished the night with a pair of assists.

The Rockets scored all four of their goals during a four minute span early in the second period.

The Lambton Shores Predators (3-2-0-1) were blanked 5-0 in Leamington.

The Preds host LaSalle Saturday before wrapping up the weekend in Strathroy Sunday.

Petrolia Flyers (2-2-0-0) scored six unanswered goals to erase a three goal deficit and beat Dresden 7-4

Hunter Bryce, Kole Keating and Kirklin Dorman had mult-point nights for the Flyers.

Petrolia is at Dresden Friday night.

The Mooretown Flags (1-2-1-0) host Wallaceburg Saturday night, and travel to Blenheim Sunday

The Sarnia Sting (2-0-0-0) have three games in three nights this weekend. At home against Ottawa Friday, in Flint Saturday, and back at home against Sault Ste. Marie Sunday afternoon.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
