Al's Lose Playoff Opener In Appin

Alvinston Indians lost the opener of their first round series against the Appin A's Monday night.

The A's, who finished the season in seventh place, drew first blood against the second placed Al's in South Middlesex Men's Fastball League action.

Joe Triest hit a two run home run in the first to get the Indians out to an early lead. The lead didn't last long as Appin responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half.

The two teams went back and forth until the third, with the game tied at three the A's added on three more runs to open up the ball game.

Cole Pavey pitch three clean innings of relief,  to keep Appin's offence off the score sheet, in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. The Al's added two runs in the fifth but that is as close as they would come, giving Appin the 6-5 win.

Games two and three will be in Alvinston Thursday and Friday night at 8pm.
