The Alvinston Indians opened the South Middlesex Men's Fastball League season on a winning note, beating Appin 3-2 Monday night. 17-year-old Cole Pavey got the start and gave up two runs in the first, then allowed just one hit over the next three innings. Jeff Wise came in in relief in the fifth and then the Indians scored twice in the seventh for the win. Rookie Mark McNally was the star of the game, going two for three with a double, homerun, and two RBI's. Alvinston plays their home opener Thursday night against the Charing Cross Jr.'s at 8.
