Sting Finish Weekend With Win

For the second straight game the Sting out played their opponents, outshooting Saginaw 35-21. Unlike Friday night, Sundays effort was enough for Sarnia to earn the two points as they beat Saginaw 3-1.

Sarnia got off to a strong start, outshooting the Spirit 19-2 through the opening period. Despite the significant shot advantage, Jakob Chychrun's fourth goal of the season was the lone goal of the opening frame.

Saginaw carried the play during the second period but both teams were held off the score sheet.

Rookie Ryan McGregor scored 3:06 into the third period to open Sarnia's lead to 2-0. Saginaw would respond with a powerplay goal to trim Sarnia's lead to 2-1.

Jeff King, who was playing forward, scored his first goal of the season to give Sarnia some breathing room.

The Sting would hang on to the 3-1 win, outshooting Saginaw 35-21. The win caps off a three game week for the Sting that saw them take five of a possible six points.

Justin Fazio made 20 saves to pick up his first win since returning from injury.

Forward Davis Brown made his season debut for Sarnia.

Another busy week for Sarnia, they travel to Kitchener on Tuesday, Flint on Friday and host Guelph Saturday
