The Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF) is congratulating LCCVI student Gauri Patel on receiving the 2026 All-Round Student Bursary.
She's getting $5,000 towards tuition, books, and residence fees.
Patel heading to the University of Guelph in September to study molecular biology and genetics and plans to become a doctor.
Patel was a peer tutor in the welding club at the Petrolia high school and competed in the Skills Canada Welding competition.
In a news release, the SCF said it wanted the recipient to be a student who is open-minded, compassionate, resilient and in good academic standing who has participated in school activities and sports.
The applicant had to be a graduating female student who has attended LCCVI for at least three years and is enrolling in a first year, full-time program at an accredited college or university.
Executive Director Mike Barron commented on the bursary.
“It was great to meet Gauri and hear all about her high school experiences and her goals going forward, she truly is an all round student who deserves this All-Round Student Bursary!”
Barron, along with Donor Linda Smith, and LCCVI principal Rhonda Leystra presented Patel with a cheque during a recent meeting.
