A local non-profit group will honour first responders and veterans this weekend while also drawing attention to the importance of funding mental health programs.
Operation: Talk 2 Me Johnny's annual Memorial Day will take place Saturday at the Brigden Fairgrounds.
Families, veterans, first responders, cadets, and the entire community is invited to take in a day of entertainment, remembrance, and support for mental wellness initiatives.
The free event is scheduled for noon until 4 p.m.
It will feature live music, vendors, food trucks, emergency vehicles, wellness activities, children’s attractions, and the Lambton Army Cadets annual review ceremony at 1:45 p.m.
A barn dance, featuring Scott Manery & The Barnburners will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight, the cost is $20.
Last year’s event raised about $14,000 in support of the Three Oaks Cabin and Veteran & Everyday Heroes.
Operation: Talk 2 Me Johnny began in May 2023, 18 months after Wyoming-born Sgt. John R. Little, CD died by suicide at just 36 years old.
