SIU investigating 'incident' in Lambton County

The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an arrest in Lambton County on Sunday.

The OPP released minimal details in a news release on Monday, March 9.

"On Sunday, March 8, 2026, shortly after 3:15 p.m., members of the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual in relation to an incident," the bulletin read. "While in custody, the individual required medical attention and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital."

The OPP said it would not be able to provide further information, as the SIU has invoked its mandate.

According to an email from the SIU, a 23-year-old woman was seriously injured during her arrest by Ontario Provincial Police officers at an Inwood residence.

Officers were called for a report of a disturbance and arrested the woman for breaching a term of a release order.

The SIU said there was "an interaction with the woman and officers before she was handcuffed and taken to the detachment. The woman was transported to hospital where she was treated for a non-life-threatening injury."
