Local GoFundMe campaign quickly surpasses $200K mark

A GoFundMe campaign recently set up to help a family affected by a barn fire in St. Clair Township has gained a lot of online support with over $206,000 raised.

The fire was reported Saturday morning. Unfortunately, several chickens and a calf died in the blaze.

An online fundraiser was launched shortly after to support the Ysebaert family.

"Anyone who knows them knows how much care and dedication they put into their animals and their farm every single day," read the GoFundMe post. "This loss is not only emotional but also financial, as they now face the cost of cleanup, rebuilding, and replacing supplies and livestock."

In an update posted on Tuesday, the fundraising organizer said the barn was not insured in the way they had hoped.

"They are still taking things one day at a time, but they have been completely overwhelmed, in the best way, by the love, generosity, and support from this community," read the update. "Every message, share, and donation has meant more than words can express."

The initial fundraising goal was set at $220,000 but was increased to $250,000.
