Sarnia police lay drug charges after wellbeing check

Sarnia police say a wellbeing check at a Christina Street fast food restaurant has resulted in drug charges against a 35-year-old man.

Officers were called to the business just before 2 p.m. on Monday.

It's alleged the suspect locked himself in the bathroom and didn't answer when police knocked on the door.

They used a key to get in, and found a man lying face down on the floor.

When he woke up, he refused offers of an ambulance.

Police said the accused also had an outstanding arrest warrant related to a November 14 break and enter at a London Line motel.

He was arrested, and a search allegedly turned up 22 grams of Fentanyl, a small quantity of methamphetamine, hydromorphone pills, and other indicators of drug trafficking.

The street value of the drugs was around $4,000.

In total, he's charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl), break and enter, mischief under $5,000, and four counts of breaching probation.

After a bail hearing, the suspect was remanded into custody by the court.

Police said it was his 29th interaction with officers since December 2024.
