The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office has been called in to investigate a fire in Sarnia that sent one person to hospital.
Just after 12 a.m. Friday, Sarnia Fire Rescue, Sarnia police and Lambton EMS responded to a fire at a multi-unit dwelling on Devine Street near Vidal Street.
Fire Prevention Officer John Milne said firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke exiting the structure.
In a post to social media, Sarnia Fire Rescue said despite the high temperatures and near-zero visibility, the first-in crew were able to quickly locate and a remove one person from the building.
Immediate CPR was administered and the male victim was transported to Bluewater Health with what Sarnia police described as life-threatening injuries.
Milne said the fire was contained to one unit on the ground floor, and damage is estimated at between $50,000 to $100,000.
Victim Services was also called to assist additional occupants temporarily displaced by the fire.
