Minor restoration work remains underway in isolated sections of Lambton College which experienced water intrusion in last Wednesday's storm.
Over 70 millimetres of rain fell in about an hour as thunderstorms moved across the region.
In an email to Sarnia News Today, Communications and Media Relations Specialist Lauren Ward said a number of buildings were impacted.
"Lambton College sustained water intrusion in buildings A through E of the South Building where the college’s main indoor central heating and cooling plant and electrical room were impacted," Ward said. "Basement computer labs in the South Building were closed through Friday, July 18. Sections of the Residence and Event Centre also sustained water intrusion, which resulted in the temporary closure of the Photography Lab and Hair Salon. The Skilled Trades Training Centre sustained an electrical outage."
Ward said all facilities were operating as usual on Monday, July 21.
"Minor restoration work remains underway in isolated sections of the college," Ward said. "Last week, Lambton College undertook electrical repair work that required an electrical shutdown in buildings A, B, and C of the South Building, and the Skilled Trades Training Centre. This electrical shutdown necessitated a shutdown of IT systems. Electricity and IT systems were restored ahead of schedule."
Ward said while the Capstones Restaurant was closed as a result of the cancellation of classes on Thursday, July 17, it did not experience water intrusion.
Student Administrative Council (SAC) Summer Camps were not impacted.
Meanwhile, the neighbouring Progressive Auto Sales Arena (PASA) is closed until further notice following significant flood damage.
