PASA damaged by flooding, closed indefinitely

Sarnia's Progressive Auto Sales Arena (PASA) is closed until further notice, resulting in no ice availability in the city for at least the rest of the summer season.

The facility was damaged by flooding during heavy rainfall on Wednesday afternoon, and all rentals up to September 1 have been cancelled.

City staff are still working to ascertain the scope of damage and repairs needed.

In a news release, the city said the closure is expected to last at least until the end of the summer ice season.

Crews are working to restore PASA as a crucial space for sport and recreation in the community as soon as possible.

The flood-related closure of PASA happened at the same time Pat Stapleton Arena is closed for the summer and Clearwater Arena is undergoing facility upgrades.

The city will be providing updates as things develop.

Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the city's social media pages or at www.sarnia.ca.
