Several sailors needed to be saved on Lake Huron during the 101st Bayview Mackinac Race.
Crews on two of the nearly 200 boats that participated on Saturday needed to be rescued by members of the US Coast Guard.
The Bayview Yacht Club in a post to Facebook said two yacht crew members were thrown overboard, but will survive.
"We are grateful to the US Coast Guard and those competitors who participated in the successful search and rescue of the sailors who were in the water. It's a testament to their skill, preparedness, and the shared commitment to safety that all sailors share any time they are on the water,” said Paul Falcone, Commodore of Bayview Yacht Club.
Six other boats had to retire from the race due to breakdowns in sails, rigs, and rudders.
There were no injuries reported during the race.
