Home on the market allegedly broken into

Two people face charges in an alleged break and enter of a home listed for sale.

Sarnia police were called shortly after 10 p.m. on  Wednesday, July 9 to a residence in the area of Brock Street North.

Police said the homeowner was alerted by a real estate agent who allegedly discovered someone inside.

The Community Response Division attended and located a man who left the scene on foot and a woman inside the home.

During a search, officers allegedly found two stolen debit cards, one gram of fentanyl and two grams crystal methamphetamine.

Police said the debit cards were stolen from a vehicle in a theft reported in May.

A 47-year-old man is charged with break and enter, mischief under $5,000, two counts of possession of a debit card knowing the card was obtained in the commission of an offence and two possession of a substance charges.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old woman is charged with break and enter, mischief under $5,000, unlawfully in a dwelling house and disobeying a court order.

Both were held pending a bail hearing.

The man has been remanded in custody and the woman was released on a court order with a future court date.
