Art, crafts and music to be showcased at Victoria Park

Artists and musicians will take over Petrolia's Victoria Park this weekend.

It's the annual Art in the Park.

Spokesperson Carol Graham said there will be 60 vendors this year showcasing paintings, wood crafts, stained glass, and more.

"What makes us different than a lot of the other shows is that this is a juried art show," said Graham. "We really focus on quality and variety with only a finite number of vendors that are all in the same category. You don't have to do a lot of walking to see all these 60 unique artists and it's located in beautiful historic downtown Petrolia."

Spokesperson Barb Prescott said the free two-day outdoor event also features live demonstrations, music, and a kids craft area.

"The Kiwanis Club has taken over our tie-dye booth, so you can either bring your own cotton t-shirt, tablecloth or pillowcase or buy a t-shirt from us," said Prescott. "We also have a very, very young artist doing 3D printed toys."

Gates will be open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 11 and from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 12.

The Petrolia Sings Youth Contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday featuring performers from five to 19 years old.
