The mayor of Brooke-Alvinston is calling it a "game-changer" for the community.
David Ferguson said his municipality has been awarded up to $1 million through the Ontario government's Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF).
The investment will support critical upgrades to the arena at the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre Complex.
"This investment is a game-changer for our community," Ferguson said. "It allows us to revitalize a facility that has long been a hub for local sports, events, and connection. We thank the Province of Ontario for recognizing the importance of this project and specifically MPP Steve Pinsonneault for advocating for us."
Work is expected to begin after the 2025/2026 ice season and be completed before the 2026/2027 ice season -- with efforts made to minimize disruption to regular programming.
Ontario's $200 million CSRIF supports municipalities in building and revitalizing sport and recreation infrastructure across the province.
