UPDATE: Hydro pole damaged in Vidal St. crash

Tickets have been issued following a crash Tuesday night near the intersection of Vidal Street South and Talfourd Street, which resulted in a power outage.

Sarnia Fire Rescue reported the collision shortly after 11 p.m.

The service said those involved in the crash were able to self-extricate.

Sarnia police closed Vidal Street between Talfourd Street and Devine Street as the crash resulted in a damaged hydro pole and downed power lines.

Bluewater Power was called to the scene to complete repairs. Affected customers were without power for several hours.

Power was fully restored on Wednesday at around 6 a.m.

At 6:45 a.m., city police said the area reopened to traffic.

Police initially said minor injuries were reported.

Both drivers involved in the collision were issued tickets under the Highway Traffic Act, one was for making an unsafe turn and the other was for driving with an expired licence.
