Damage to Highway 402 prompts lengthy closure

A section of Highway 402 in Plympton-Wyoming is expected to be closed for a while.

Lambton OPP were called about unsafe road conditions at around 6 p.m. Sunday.

As a result, the westbound highway was closed between Oil Heritage Road and Mandaumin Road.

Further details were not immediately available, but photos sent to Sarnia News Today show significant damage to the roadway.

Motorists are advised to take an alternate route and police said the closure is expected to remain in place for an extended period of time while crews work to safely repair the road surface.

Westbound motorists are advised to exit at Oil Heritage Road and detour following London Line to Mandaumin Road to re-enter the highway.

Lambton OPP are thanking the public for their patience and cooperation during this closure.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
