Higher than normal benzene levels have led to an evacuation notice at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
In an alert early Friday afternoon, First Nation residents living between Churchill Road and the first set of tracks on Tashmoo Avenue were advised to go to the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community Centre at 1972 Virgil Avenue.
Residents are also being advised to exercise caution, and avoid that area of Churchill Road.
Additional mobile monitoring has been launched to determine if additional measures are required.
Updates will be provided as they become available.
Meanwhile, the First Nation reported on Thursday morning that high benzene levels were detected in the area off Tashmoo Avenue.
The band office, blue building, environment building, child and family services building, education administration building, CIDL, public works and the church were closed for the day and again Friday.
