High benzene levels detected, Aamjiwnaang issues closures

Buildings in the area of Aamjiwnaang's Sportscentre air monitoring system are closed again.

The First Nation reported through its notification system Thursday morning that high benzene levels were detected in the area off Tashmoo Avenue.

The band office, blue building, environment building, child and family services building, education administration building, CIDL, public works, and the church will be closed Thursday, June 12 and on Friday, June 13.

It's the second time in less than a week, buildings have been closed because of elevated benzene levels in the area.
