Knife wielding man arrested in fishing dispute

A Mississauga man is facing charges in connection with a late night fishing dispute.

At around 10 p.m. Thursday, Sarnia police responded to a call about a man with a knife near the Suncor Docks on St. Clair Parkway.

Police said a mother and son from London were in the city to fish and had set up near the south end of the dock.

The 14-year-old moved to the north to find a better spot.

It's alleged he encountered a man who suggested he fish elsewhere, while producing a knife.

The teen told his mother about the incident, who then confronted the unknown man.

Police alleged the man once again produced the knife, putting it to his neck in a threatening manner before pointing it at the victim and charging at her for a short distance.

The 48-year-old woman backed away, and in doing so tripped on an anchor and hit her head. She was not seriously hurt.

Police located the male suspect without incident and recovered a 12 inch fishing knife.

A 69-year-old man is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.
