SPS respond to two knife incidents within hours of each other

Sarnia police responded to two knife incidents Saturday just four hours apart from each other.

Officers were called just before 5:15 p.m. to a business in the area of Christina Street and London Road.

Police said a man was allegedly acting erratically, brandishing a knife and making stabbing motions in the air.

A 31 year-old man was arrested and police found a knife concealed in his shoe.

The man is charged with weapons dangerous and five counts of breach probation.

Meanwhile, four and half hours later police responded to a weapons complaint at Germain Park following a dispute among park users.

A 28-year-old man was allegedly attempting to stab people using the park.

Officers learned the suspect went up to a group playing soccer just after 9:45 p.m. and asked for water. When a man told him he did not have any the accused allegedly became agitated, threatened violence and brandished a knife.

Police said the victim feared for his safety and went inside his vehicle.

The man allegedly stabbed the car, puncturing the rear quarter panel and took off. The victim was not injured.

Officers located the suspect at a picnic table near the public washroom where he was arrested and a large butcher knife was found.

The 28-year-old is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats to cause bodily harm.
