Blue Flags have been awarded to two Lambton County beaches and two marinas for another year.
The prestigious international recognition for beaches and marinas that meet high environmental, safety and cleanliness standards, has been given to Grand Bend Beach, the Grand Bend Marina, the Port Franks Marina and Canatara Beach in Sarnia.
Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook said the municipality follows the rules every year to receive the designation.
"It just signifies that the beaches are all cleaned up to a standard that's going to maintain it all the time, and that's what the biggest challenge is for a lot of the other folks that maybe don't have the same capacity as we do here to keep our beaches clean," said Cook.
Across the country, a total of 16 beaches and nine marinas were awarded the prestigious Blue Flag Canada certification this year.
An organization called Swim Drink Fish operates Blue Flag Canada on behalf of Blue Flag International and the Foundation for Environmental Education.
