Not for profit social organizations in Sarnia-Lambton are invited to apply for a Community Impact Grant.
The Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF) is now accepting applications for this year's intake, after doling out over $800,000 in 2024.
Executive Director Mike Barron said over the last 42 years, they've given back over $12 million to local organizations and projects.
"I'm in my third year here with the foundation and, I think, each year since I've been here, at minimum, it was about $750,000 of the total pool annually," said Barron. "The first year I was here we had some post pandemic money from the Canadian government. The total that year had us at over $1 million."
Barron said there are a number of different types of projects that could be eligible for grant money.
"Mental health and the environment (are big ones)," he said. "It can be the greatest impact too in the community. So, if the group is going to have an impact on a small section of people versus is it going to run and have 100 people go to it."
Barron gave a special thanks to their donors and fund holders who help make the community a better place.
Since 1983, the SCF has served the residents of Lambton County by working with donors to establish and maintain endowment funds, and making grants to community projects and programs.
The organization also supports leadership initiatives in the community, and administers and supports donor driven scholarships.

The deadline to apply is Friday June 6 at 4:30 p.m.
