Sarnia police arrest pair of alleged impaired drivers

The security gate at Imperial was damaged by an alleged impaired driver late Monday night.

Sarnia police were called to the site at around 11:30 p.m. for reports of a vehicle crashing through the gate on Imperial Avenue.

Officers arrived to find a suspected impaired driver. Police said he was uncooperative with officers, resisted arrest, and initially gave a fake name.

The 51-year-old Sarnia man was arrested for impaired driving, resisting arrest, and personation.

Police said samples taken at the Sarnia Police Station indicated his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

Another alleged impaired driver was arrested in traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

Police said a vehicle with a flat tire had been spotted driving erratically in the area of London Road and Finch Drive.

Officers pulled over the vehicle at 3:15 a.m. and conducted a roadside breath test on the female driver. Police allege she failed the test.

The 60-year-old Ingleside woman was arrested for impaired driving.

Police said breath samples taken later at the Sarnia Police Station indicated her blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit.
