Commercial driver faces nearly a dozen charges

Lambton OPP is reminding commercial vehicle operators about the importance of following regulations after a Sarnia driver was charged with 10 Highway Traffic Act offences.

OPP said a commercial vehicle was stopped on Churchill Line, west of Blackwell Side Road, on December 27, 2024.

Following an investigation, the 68-year-old driver was charged with multiple offences, including failing to stop for police and having an insecure load. A full list of charges can be found below.

Police said the accused is scheduled to appear in Sarnia's Provincial Offences Court at a later date. 

The driver faces the following charges:

- Failure to stop for police

- No red light on the rear of a trailer - commercial motor vehicle

- Fail to surrender permit for trailer

- Operate unsafe combination of vehicles - commercial motor vehicle

- Improper means of attachment - commercial motor vehicle

- Insecure load - commercial motor vehicle

- Driving a commercial motor vehicle without conducting inspections

- Failure to accurately complete daily inspection report

- Failure to carry CVOR certificate or lease

- Vehicle modified - fail to apply for a new permit
