Multiple people were arrested and drugs were seized in a December retail theft project by Sarnia police.
The project was done in collaboration with local retailers to address community concerns about thefts, and to enhance both customer and employee safety.
Police said on Thursday, December 5 at 6 p.m. officers in the area of Northgate Plaza on Exmouth Street spotted a man wanted for breaching a release order.
The 36-year-old man was arrested as he exited a store.
During a search officers allegedly seized 13.36 grams of methamphetamine and 37.47 grams of blue coloured fentanyl with a total estimated street value of $6,284. Police also seized $865 in Canadian currency.
The man is facing drug trafficking charges and remains in custody with his next court appearance on January 2.
A total of 10 people were arrested during the project.
Each person faces a variety of charges including shoplifting, assault and drug charges.
Sarnia police said items recovered during the arrests include clothing, expensive grocery items, and other items that can be resold on the street.
One offender allegedly had a shoplifting list of items they were going to steal, in order to trade for illegal narcotics.
