Police seek video footage of thefts from Sarnia neighbourhood

Those living in a central Sarnia neighbourhood are being asked to check their home cameras for suspicious activity early Monday morning.

At around 12:15 a.m., Sarnia police were called to the area of Maxwell Street and Lydia Street for a suspect trying to steal items from vehicles parked on the street and in the driveways of several homes.

Police said the information provided to them was limited to a male suspect who wore dark clothing and carried a backpack.

Given the time of night, police were unable to confirm with vehicle owners the items that may have been stolen or damage to their vehicles.

Those living in the areas of Maxwell Street, Lydia Street, Gordon Street, and Nelson Street are being asked to check their vehicles.

Residents are encouraged to have a look at surveillance footage between the hours of 11 p.m. on Sunday, January 14 and 1 a.m. on Monday, January 15.

Those who find images of the suspect committing the thefts and/or mischief are asked to contact Sarnia police at 519-344-8861 extension 0.
